Bulk Material Handling Plant Design – the
Requirements of Reliable Supply
It is essential to design an efficient and quality
bulk material handling facility that promotes efficiency
as it highly impacts the transporation, storage, handling
and operational aspect of the commodity. In this comprehensive
workshop, you will learn:
- Traditional
versus modern design of handling plant
- Importance
of flow properties and flow patterns
- Conveyor transfer
design and modelling
- Operational issues: blockage;
spillage; quality control; segregation; shipping
- Dust hazards, control and management
- Design of
plant to minimise dust generation
Workshop Leader:
Peter Wypch, Director, Key Centre for Bulk
Solids & Particulate Technologies, Wolongong
University, Chair, Australian Society for Bulk Solids
Handling, General Manager, Bulk
Materials Engineering, Australia.
Peter has been involved
with the research and development of solids handling
and processing technology since 1981. Areas of expertise
include pneumatic conveying, bulk materials handling,
dust-fume hazards, control technology and dust explosions.
Peter Wypych has published over 300 articles in these
areas and has presented numerous training seminars
and professional development courses in Australia,
China, NZ, Norway, South Africa, Thailand and the USA.
He is the Chair of the Australian Society for Bulk
Solids Handling, Engineers Australia. He also is the
General Manager of Bulk Materials Engineering Australia
and has completed over 460 industrial projects, involving
R&D, feasibility studies, troubleshooting, general/concept
design, optimisation, debottlenecking and/or rationalisation
of plants and processes for companies all around Australia
and the world.
Post Conference Workshop
Friday , 30th April 2010, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
Dust Mitigation & Management Strategies
for the Mining Industry
Dust always emerges as a serious problem in the mining
industry. It tremendously impacts the quality of the
commodity and starts from the pit right through the
conveyor belts up till the port. It is essential to
understand how you can eradicate the formulation of
dust and manage your dust problems so that the quality
of your commodity is not compromised.
In this session the workshop leader will give insights
on:
- The formulation of dust at your bulk handling facility – How
and where it’s formed
- The hazards and imposed by dust at bulk handling
facilities
- Dust control and elimination strategies
- Strategies that prevent dust formulation
- Implementing a dust management system
